Child Care - Vaccinations Menu

The Child Care Vaccinations menu allows users to view, add, forecast, and summarize vaccination information. The Vaccinations menu has three links, each of which is only accessible after a patient has been selected:

Notes about Child Care Facility Vaccinations

The Vaccination View/Add page displays the same screen that is used in the IWeb application, and the specific rules for access are modeled after the School Nurse module. The default vaccines listed are the vaccines selected in the IWeb configuration settings. The Add Administered button does not appear. Whether or not the Contraindication button appears depends on whether or not the Administration > Properties > Child Care > Enable Exemptions at the Vaccine Level option is enabled. Contraindications recorded by child care users are flagged as unverified.

Add/Edit/Delete abilities: Child Care users can add new vaccinations, but they display as unverified. Child Care users can edit and delete vaccinations that they add, but not those added by other users, regardless of whether or vaccinations were historical/unverified or added by their organization or facility.

View/Add

For more information about viewing and adding vaccinations, see the View/Add/Edit Vaccinations topic in the Vaccinations chapter in the IWeb User Guide.

Forecast

The vaccination forecast option is used to view the shots that are due for a specific patient, their recommended dates, and their status. Forecasting reflects the following situations:

If the personal forecast setting has been configured to prevent certain vaccines from appearing due to the age setting (maximum age for immunizations), the forecast is hidden if the patient is over the maximum age. Also, a state-configurable option can be set to not forecast a specific vaccine unless the first dose has been given.

The Measles is complete, so it no longer shows in the forecasting. However, MMR #1 is still not satisfied, so it remains in forecasting. Mumps and Rubella are not displayed, since the student has not yet received any of those antigens.

All of the intervals for two doses can be met, so the MMR series is complete and all of the vaccines are removed from forecasting.

The vaccinations selected in Administration > Settings > Forecast determine the vaccines that display on the patient's forecast. This is a global setting and the same vaccinations display for every patient.

There are two types of schedules: regular and accelerated. Based on the patient's existing vaccinations, the application automatically switches between the schedules to get the child up to date as recommended by the CDC. Note that, unless otherwise stated by state-specific school entry requirements, the ACIP schedule indicates that in order for a child to get into school, they must receive four doses of IPV, unless the third dose is given on or after the fourth birthday.

For information on how to view the vaccination forecast, see the Vaccination Forecasts topic in the IWeb User Guide.

Summary

The vaccination summary feature groups vaccinations by vaccine family and is used to view the vaccination series or single antigens of Measles, Mumps, and Rubella completion. An example of a series is DTap/DTP/DT/Td. All childhood vaccines display on the Vaccination Summary.

If a patient receives the single antigen vaccines, they appear in various places such as the Universal Certificate and the Vaccination Summary, Vaccination View/Add page print, Patient Record Summary, and Patient Record pages. It can also be used as a printable report for a patient's vaccinations.

Note that as an option, the Forecast can display on this page, if configured by the state. Referred to the previous section for information about the Forecast.

For information on how to view the Vaccination Summary, see that topic in the IWeb User Guide.
